Volunteering in after school and Saturday clubs

We run varied educational and creative clubs at the centre: these take place Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 6pm and Saturdays 10.30am to 12.30pm. Whether your skills and passion lie in creative activities or you are more academically-minded, we have a role that will suit you – clubs include art, cookery, dance, drama, maths and literacy and more.

Your role

Working as part of a small team, volunteers are very much in the driving seat with the clubs, and come up with their own ideas for how to teach the girls. The lead volunteer creates lesson plans and considers different topics and areas for the girls to work on each week, while the support volunteer helps to ensure the girls are behaving and that they understand the work set.

What skills are needed?

Lead volunteer: an enthusiasm for and experience in the particular area of the club as well as confidence when working with children and young people.
Support volunteer: Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and gain experience working with children.

Commitment

1 or 2 hour weekly commitment for a minimum 1 academic term (3 months)
