At The Baytree Centre we look for staff who will be able to engage with our beneficiaries and inspire them to achieve goals they hadn’t dreamt of by raising their aspirations and motivation. Core to all our provision is character education – this is what makes Baytree unique in the sector.

Our beneficiaries’ learning is central to the work of the Centre, but we also believe that for this to happen our staff must be inspirational. Not only what we teach and how we teach it, but also what we do and how we behave are absolutely fundamental to ensuring that our students want to learn and learn well.

Into School ESOL Tutor (Term Time only)

The ‘Into School’ programme facilitates the transition of newly arrived girls into the UK education system. We work with young refugees and migrants from all over the world, including Syria, Somalia, Iran, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Latin America. The girls are usually 12-18 years old. Into School provides ESOL provision as well as other activities like drama, art and maths as they wait to get into London schools.

As a tutor you will:

  • Assist with the registration of new girls to the programme and conducting standardised test to assess their language ability
  • Plan and conduct classes to girls and young women who are on the Into School programme. The girls are young migrants, asylum seekers and refugees and generally beginners in English
  • Develop a syllabus, including a weekly planner, according to the girls’ specific needs for the morning ESOL provision
