A professional dance teacher gives lessons streetdance. Streetdance teaches discipline and self-expression and is a fun way to encourage the girls to exercise and work together.

On Thursday 19 May 2011 the Baytree Funketts (Baytree's own streetdance group) performed for guests at the Centre's 20th Anniversary Celebration event.

For the second year running the Baytree's street dance group - The Funketts - performed at The Tamezin Song Festival. The audience really enjoyed the show and the Funketts enjoyed another opportunity to perform on stage. A video of their performance can be viewed via YouTube here.

On Thursday 15 July 2010 the last Streetdance classes of the term took place in the form of a performance and interactive session at Brixton Village, Brixton Market.

The aim of the session was to raise awareness of Baytree and to encourage the local community to learn more about streetdance. It was also a great opportunity for the Streetdance Club to perform in a new venue and luckily, as it was outside, the rain held off for the afternoon!

On Sunday 20 December 2009 five girls from the junior Streetdance Club at Baytree (pictured below with Dance Coordinator Yolanda) performed a specially choreographed routine as part of the Lambeth Youth Support Service’s Christmas Talent Show at Lambeth Town Hall. The show, hosted by Kat from MTV Base, was attended by 100 young people from across Lambeth and included other dance performances and comedy routines. The girls’ perseverance was tested by some technical hitches at the start of their performance, but in spite of the problems they all remained focused and performed the routine brilliantly.
